silly dog
so yea I had a boring fri and sat since I was working a bit. I made the mistake of getting a little buzzed on sat night and staying up till 2 in the morning working...and yeah I made some work -related buzzed emails. I checked the next day and I think all was ok! Sat night was exciting cuz we got to puppy sit!!! my friend just got a labordoodle who is now about 14 weeks old and we got to have her for the night. it was really eye-opening to experience how much TIME and WORK and patience puppies require. MAC had to take the dog out to pee like 7 times in 8 hours. she would bark loudly too for no reason and that was annoying since we can;t really have pets in the building. and the dog would not stay asleep for longer than half an hour so she kept me up all night which sucked. father's day was a really fun time too. went to the de young museum which I thought was amazing - not pretty but definitely I felt moved by the work! after we went to that brazilian restaurant on market and gough - we ate SOOOO much meat it was great.
my first job
we have this intern working for us - just finished his junior year. he looks like a freaking baby his face is so young. And I overhear him talking about how weird it is to have a "real" job and how all he talks about now with his friends is work and how that made him feel old. He has no idea what is coming to him. All I can say is it ain't pretty.
what up san jo
In an effort to save my sanity over this next month I will be staying 2 nights a week out in santa jose. So nice to not have to commute 2 hours a day but so sad I don't get to go home. this whole "local" project is a mixed blessing. Did I mention that I am losing my united status this year? I am so sad! I love the little perqs from traveling! I had 3 "free" trips over the last year due to all my miles. This weekend I decided I deserved a break and I did some damage at macy's. 2 days prior I did some damage online at nordstroms for their semi annual sale. I love online shopping! You forget you bought anything and then you get a nice surprise in the mail and hopefully everything fits! I was just about to hit up one last round of online shopping but macy's website is down. damn!!!!
Peru summary
I don't think I ever really gave details about my trip! So quick summary...Flew to Florida, change planes for flight to Lima. Landed at 10pm. We had our flight to Cuzco the next morning at 6am. No hotels nearby so we planned on just sleeping at the airport which could have been fine. Although the airport in Lima is open 24 hours they do not allow in travelers into the terminals after midnight and they do not open doors until 4am. So we were stuck in the food court, lounging in metal chairs and tables. They were cleaning the floors so we had to keep on moving tables throughout the night. It flat out SUCKED but there were a lot of other people doing the same thing so I guess it was ok! Next time I'm sleeping on the floor!Landed in Cuzco, slept a little then went on a tour of some local sites. Great stone structures, water channels and landscape. The whole day MAC and I had a HORRIBLE headache - welcome altitude sickness. Next day we got up early to take the train to Machu Pichu! It was a nice train ride - 3 hours. We then went on our tour and as you can tell from the pics Machu is amazing. hard to comprehend HOW it was all done. Our tourguide gave us lots of fun tidbits about theories and how the site was discovered. Abolsutely beautiful! Next day we had another tour scheduled but my body had other plans. I woke up at 2 in the morning and straight until 7 I was puking and pooping all over the freaking place. It was so freaking disgusting! shit just kept on coming out of my mouth (ha and butt!) and it would not stop. I would lay down for a second and then have to run back to the bathroom. After a few hours I gave up and brought a pillow into the bathroom. And to add to the grotesqueness of this situation - I actually was on the toilet crapping and puking into the garbage can at the same time. GROSSSSSSSSS!! but details are necessary here so you can understand how sick I was! Not sure what happened - my sis was sick the day before but not as extreme as I got. So MAC and I stayed at the hotel and missed out on the last tour:( Next day we headed back to Lma. That night we had a dinner with extended family - some uncles, cousins and all that. Times like these really wish I could speak more fluently but I tried! The restaurant was SOOO much fun - it was buffet of peruvian food and they had traditional peruvian dancing all night! I love watching dancing so this was perfect. Oh and turns out my uncle is loaded. They heard it was my bday the week of our trip so they gave me this gorgeous necklace. I was absolutely shocked - I actually have never been so surprised by a gift like that before. Completely unexpected and it was so pretty.Next day hung out with one of my dad's old school friends from back in the day. Hung out with their fam which were all so nice:) Day after hung out with the rich uncle. their house was incredible. Mansion is an understatement! I exaggerate only slightly here. We headed back home that day. Oh and of course there was lots of shopping the whole trip:) I didn;t get too much but some cool pieces you will see in our apartment!
Is June over yet?
I had a great month of May - my bday, Peru and Vegas all in 3 weeks. June however is going to flat out suck. Work related of course so no need to get into it. It is absolutely gorgeous out here and I realize that I live here day to day worried that the weather is going to turn to crap in seconds. That's no fun! Why can't we be guaranteed a solid number of months of just great weather?!My coworker just got engaged and it is the cutest thing ever - her boy told her they were going to go on a trip for memorial weekend and to pack for SF weather. She thought they would probably hit up santa barbara or something. Turns out they flew out to London for the weekend to catch phantom of the opera and he proposed to here over there! That is some major planning for any guy to handle so I am damn impressed. What is cute about this couple is that they both worked for my company (he no longer does) and they totally kept their reltionship on the DL but now that he is gone and people ask her who she is engaged to - she has to tell the truth and everyone at work are like holy crap we had no idea! So many of us are engaged or married and I feel like we are still so young to do something so adult. Planning a wedding just seems nuts to me. Vegas is the way to go!
